The Milwaukee-based manufacturer of iconic V-twin hogs, which have become synonymous with the American dream of freedom, the open road and the Easy Rider lifestyle, recently celebrated its milestone birthday with the release of a range of 110th Anniversary Editions of selected 2013 models.
Every 110th Anniversary Edition model will feature a special serialisation badge, as well as exclusive paint and commemorative solid bronze fuel tank badges. The range will be exclusive as only 900 of some models will be made.
The 110th Anniversary Edition models are: the 1200 Custom; Super Glide Custom; Fat Boy Special; Heritage Softail Classic; Road King; Electra Glide Ultra Limited; CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide; CVO Road King; and CVO Road Glide Custom. The latter three CVO models will feature an exclusive Diamond Dust and Obsidian paint scheme.
A new addition for 2013 to the Softail range is the CVO Breakout, a limited-production model featuring the Twin Cam 110B engine with a level of custom detailing unmatched on a production motorcycle.
The Breakout portrays a tough attitude – the bike was stripped down and then built up. It is a “tough-looking hot rod concept” with fenders chopped to the legal limit so more tyre rubber is revealed at both ends of the bike, and a shaved down console using braided steel lines for vent tubes.
The Breakout also features: polished chrome Turbine wheels (21-inch front wheel with a 130mm tyre and the 18-inch rear wheel with a 240mm tyre); a wide front end with a mini headlamp nacelle; a chromed cast-aluminium oil tank; rear suspension control provided by coil-over shock absorbers mounted horizontally and out of sight within the frame rails; electronic cruise control; ABS (now standard on all CVOs); keyless ignition, and the Harley-Davidson factory security system as standard.
Street Bob revamp
In the Dyna range, the Street Bob gets a new look for 2013, with new blacked-out triple clamps and powertrain, and a chopped rear fender with side-mounted number plate and stop/turn/tail lights. This model now features a solo seat and mini-ape handlebars mounted on new risers that make it easier to customise.
Retro paint jobs
In addition to the new range, Harley-Davidson has launched a new look with Hard Candy Custom, nostalgic metal flake paint that is available in 16 finishes, three of which will be selectively offered as a solid-colour option on five 2013 models. Hard Candy Big Red Flake featured on the Sportster Seventy-Two model in 2012, and is now joined by Hard Candy Lucky Green Flake and Hard Candy Coloma Gold. At least one Hard Candy Custom colour will be offered on the Seventy-Two, Street Bob, Blackline, Softail Deluxe, and Forty-Eight.
